E Books are really the wave of the future. As a fiction author who has both been published by a mainstream publisher and who has also self published, I’ve formed my opinion on how I feel about the physical book versus electronic books, or E Books. Sure, it’s nice to see, touch, and feel a real book. Some of you may even get off on the ink smell, although I won’t be the one to judge. But let’s face it, it does weigh you down. You have to carry it around with you remember? And if you’re eating or drinking, you run the risk of ruining pages, heaven forbid you destroy the pages which include the climax of the story! Yikes. And here’s the worst part. They cost more. Physical books require ink and paper, and a color cover which is glossy and beautiful enough to reel you in as you peruse the book shelves. And yes, there’s nothing like experiencing the joys of having a book autographed by a notable author, but will you really get all of your books personally autotographed, or will you just concentrate on getting the ones you adore most John or Jane Hancocked? I’m not saying to rid yourself of all physical books altogether. I’m also not saying to start a bonfire and torch them all up in a fiery flame. what I’m proposing is that you allow E books the chance to enter your world—to possibly make your reading experience a whole lot easier. If you want something lightweight, which can store thousands upon thousands of titles you might want to invest in an E reader and upload an E book. It literally, only takes a few seconds. You can buy a Kindle, or another device. E books are cheaper, because it’s all electronic. There’s no need for warehousing, or printing plates. E readers offer free reading samples, so that you can determine whether or not you even want to take the E book plunge or not. And for those of you who are not computer literate, there’s no need to worry. There are plenty of tutorials available to you, online and not online. Help is actually as close as the vendor who sold it to you, unless you purchased it from somewhere you shouldn’t have, like hot from an E Book reader thief. And get this; if you have kids and an E Book reader, you’ll be like a rockstar to them. E books are interactive in the cool way which enables them to electronically turn the page, and to choose book selections from what seems like an endless variety of books. We’re talking buy fiction books, buy non fiction books, buy christian fiction books, buy urban books, It’s all there. Imagine that, instant access to a world of fantasy, make believe, and even learning tools! By now, I hope that I have swayed you into at least looking into owning an E reader and, reading E books, and if I didn’t then that’s okay too. I won’t be the one to say I told you so when you’ve been outed as the last person on the planet with a physical book filled with those little bugs…..
